Coventry Savoy Opera Society are primarily involved with staging Gilbert and Sullivan Savoy Operas as our name implies. Our repertoire is quite extensive and is not only versed in Gilbert and Sullivan but has a diverse range of music from Nursery Rhymes to Abba and the Beatles. We also sing music from well known Musicals such as Les Miserables, Show Boat and even some lighter classical music too.
A Bit of History
Coventry Savoy was formed in 1928 as St Barbara's Amateur Operatic Society, having been founded by the Parishioners of that church in Earlsdon. In 1936 the Society's name was changed to The Coventry Savoy Opera Society. Gilbert and Sullivan, the Librettist and Compo5er of the Savoy Operas (so called after the Savoy Theatre in London that was specially built for their works to be performed in) wrote thirteen operas together. Coventry Savoy has regularly performed twelve of them during its existance, the only exception being The Grand Duke.

Performances
As well as its annual main concert, the Society organises and performs concerts throughout the year at various venues around Coventry and Warwickshire. These help to raise funds to enable us to stage our annual concert at the chosen venues in Coventry and Southam, Warwickshire.
